Celebrating 25 Years of QDS
An afternoon of CPD, with networking and drinks into the evening at the Showroom Cinema, Sheffield

AGENDA

1PM Arrival - Tea & Coffee 2PM - Start Welcome & Introduction - Simon Curwen (Director of FLI QDS)Evolving Technologies within the Remediation Industry
  • Jamie Harris, Technical Director FLI QDS
  • Rob Timson, Senior Project Manager FLI QDS
  • Jim Hayward, Senior Project Manager FLI QDS
Using case studies, you will be taken on a journey through relevant remediation technologies which have evolved with this changing industry over the past 25 years. Which key technologies are still relevant to us in the industry? How can we integrate remediation solutions with key concerns such as project delivery? How do you make the right choices? We will share some of our key learning and experience to help you with your remediation projects from initial project scoping to achieving regulator sign off.
  • Fully Supported Remediation and Water Treatment Hire Fleet
  • Stephen Baggaley (Engineering Manager at FLI QDS)
If you are looking to take a more “hands on” approach to your remediation project direct for your client, did you know that FLI QDS has probably the largest fleet of remediation kit in the UK which is available for you to hire? Steve will outline the kit, its applicability on site and the technical support we can provide for all types of remediation projects and pilot trials.
  • MMP/Landfill Tax, Doing the Right Thing
  • Steve Edgar (Director at FLI QDS and Vertase FLI)
Did you know that at sites reusing materials without an appropriate permit, or not properly adhering to the terms of the CL:AIRE Definition of Waste Code of practice, the person/company disposing of the waste and anyone who is involved in the work (client, contractor, consultant) could be liable to HMRC for the Landfill Tax, at the full rate? All parties involved could also be liable to penalties for non-compliance or even face criminal prosecution. How can those in the remediation industry ensure that we don’t fall foul of this new legislation? Steve will talk you though this recent and important development. 4PM - The event will move to a networking area where you will enjoy a drink and some nibbles whilst making new connections within the industry. 6PM - Close of the event however those wishing to stay on and enjoy a few drinks and an informal meal in Sheffield are very welcome. This is a great opportunity to get some practical experience of remediation direct from some of the UK’s most experienced contractors and to meet and discuss current issues with fellow remediation professionals, practitioners and those involved in brownfield and contaminated land projects.
